Frequently Asked Questions
1 | 2 NextWhat’s the difference between skip tooth and full tooth blades?
Every other tooth on the skip tooth blade is shorter than normal in order to feed more hair to the cutter; which makes it ideal for cutting through thicker coats or removing matted hair. Full toothed blades are used to give a much neater finishing cut & will blend the long and short areas together to give a more complete finish. Skip tooth blades are only available in blades 3, 4, 5 and 7.

Blasters are more powerful and usually they don't have a heating element and are primarily used to blast the water off the dog immediately after bathing. A dryer is normally used on the grooming table while the groomer brushes through and style's the coat. The warm air will raise the hair making grooming that little bit easier.

The Furminator is a unique de-shedding tool that is designed to reduce casting by removing loose hair from the undercoat. It doesn’t cut but ‘grabs’ the undercoat and removes the loose hair with ease, leaving only the healthy shiny top coat. You use the Furminator when the coat is completely dry; using it just like you would use a brush, with long strokes in the direction of the hair growth. You can see the results on the teeth of the Furminator. Reducing casting will decrease the effect of pet hair on allergy sufferers in the home. For more information on... read more
What is the best way to combat matted hair?
Matt’s are best tackled with a combination of tools and techniques. The first port of call should be splitting the matt with a Matt Splitter. When the matt is split lengthwise, it is easier to untangle and causes less stress for the pet. You are then best to use a matt breaker to pick through the tangled hair. Some groomers recommend that you pick from the ends of the hair, up towards the skin. Alternatively you could use a coat king, which will cut; strip and comb in one go. Finally use a brush, comb or a rake to eliminate... read more
Which blades fit which clippers?
Almost all of our blades are interchangeable. Andis, Oster and Geib blades will all fit the same clippers. These blades are commonly known as A5 type blades. They will attach onto Andis, Oster, Moser Max, Double K, Wahl Switchblade and the new Camon Easy Clipper. The only clippers that cannot take these blades are the Aesculap Favorita’s or the Moser Arco. Some other smaller clippers and trimmers come with their own shaped blades that cannot take these but that will be mentioned in their item description.
