Frequently Asked Questions
<< Back to Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the best way to combat matted hair?
Matt’s are best tackled with a combination of tools and techniques. The first port of call should be splitting the matt with a Matt Splitter. When the matt is split lengthwise, it is easier to untangle and causes less stress for the pet. You are then best to use a matt breaker to pick through the tangled hair. Some groomers recommend that you pick from the ends of the hair, up towards the skin. Alternatively you could use a coat king, which will cut; strip and comb in one go. Finally use a brush, comb or a rake to eliminate the tangle completely. In some cases going from side to side is more effective. Always use “wet” products such as Matt Magic or Artero Matt-X spray to lubricate and break down the hold.
Les Pooch Brushes de-matt and de-tangle like you would not believe with no major discomfort to the dog and in most cases without having to but the matt. For general grooming use either the Pro Brush Hard or Medium depending on the type of coat. From removing undercoat use the coat grabber silver.
